Welcome to the official virtual museum dedicated to Johfra, painter of psychological realism

This virtual Johfra museum aims to give maximum publicity to the work and the ideas of Johfra. We would like to lead you not only along the famous artworks like the Zodiac Series, but also to get acquainted with the versatility of this artist. Johfra kept a diary during the period from 1938 to 1998, covering a total of 6,000 pages and is of high literary value. But there is more, his life, a complete works index with more than 500 pictures, a bibliographie, exhibition reviews but also articles with criticism and so on.

Frequently asked questions:

Is the work of Johfra somewhere in real life to be seen?
The work of Johfra is included in private collections, there is no 'real' museum where you can see the work. The foundation Stichting de Verbeelding tries to promote the work in various ways. To organize an exhibition takes a lot of time, energy and money. We strongly encourage initiatives in this area and we will assist where possible.

Can I just simply use pictures of the work of Johfra?
No this is not allowed, copyright applies for all the work. The use of images of artworks which are in your possession is also prohibited due to copyright. The foundation Stichting de Verbeelding can mediate for you in obtaining the desired images, provided that this is in their possession. We could forward your request to them.

I think I have an artwork made by Johfra, can this be checked?
Johfra noted the work he has made quite accurate in his diaries. An index for this is compiled. The fact remains that there are works which are not included in the index. We are very familiar with the work of Johfra, and can probably help you with your question. You can ask your question via the contact address.

Are you searching for certain things on Johfra?
We try to get the archive on Johfra as complete as possible. We are therefore interested in everything around Johfra, such as images of artworks, published articles and reviews, announcements etcetera. If you may have something interesting please contact us.
